4 Hitman games exist, with a 5th on the way and why not? Agent 47 has never looked better, sure he can’t jump (except for scripted jumps) and his most feared enemy up until his most recent adventure was the chest high wall, but that won’t stop him. 47 has looked ever stronger with each Hitman game that has come out and for good reason.

As each Hitman game was released they looked smooth and polished for their time and even Blood Money the most recent game in the series lived up to this expectation. Blood Money was released back in 2006 and went on to sell over 2.1 million copies, which is a great achievement for any game. The graphics of Blood Money looked and played smooth which did the game justice, as for the voice acting while being limited for some NPC’s was a solid fit and 47 of course lived up to every expectation fans had for him. The story by far is the best of the series so far broadening the scope for each mission, along with the stealth in the game that remained unchanged, which was welcome news as there was nothing wrong with it in previous titles.

Blood Money did see some new additions added in to the game, the Notoriety system while being underutilized was a nice feature. The musical score in the game was nominated for Best Original Music by Gamespot and Best Video Game Score at the VMA’s for 2006 (losing to Oblivion which is not something to be unhappy about).

One of the more controversial things about the game wasn’t actually in the game itself, but more in the advertising campaign that they used while promoting the game. Blood Money was the most violent game of the series so far, but far more attention was paid to the way in which they advertised the game itself. Featuring adverts such as a woman lying on a bed in lingerie with a bullet hole through her forehead with the tagline ‘Beautifully Executed’. And my personal favorite a woman in a bath electrocuted by a toaster with the tagline ‘Shockingly Executed’. If only more games were willing to think outside the box when it came to their advertising campaigns. Sure it was controversial, but it sold them more copies that way.
